We celebrated 16th Birthdays last month and I was searching for a sweet way to make it special. Even though, my teenage son wanted no decorations and nothing fancy.
So I decided to focus on the candles! Every sweet 16 party needs a birthday cake topper and this idea ended up being one of my favorite ways to top a cake yet!
I’m calling them memory candles!
I decided to find photos from each of my son’s previous birthday parties and top the cake with photos remembering our celebrations along the way.
DIY Photo Candles
I started by finding all the old birthday photos and had them printed out at my local photo shop.
Once I had all the photos, I grabbed a hole punched and punched out a circle from each of the photos.
Note here: The small the photo is the more of it you will get included in your punch out, so printing out wallet sized photos would have been best.
After punching the photos out, I simply hot glued each one to a candle!
You can make these well before the party and then just top your cake on the day of.
There you have it, easy and sweet teen boy birthday cake topper… With only a few nostalgic moma tears shed in the making.
An easy idea for a 16 year old who wants a chill party, when mom has no chill about her. Haha.
Happy celebrating!
