I was obsessed when I saw mini-candy canes turning themselves into bows and immediately thought they’d look even better made with big sized candy canes and put on a cake.
I combined the mini version and the maxi version to create a christmas candy cane cake with peppermint bows that is as sweet as the season!
Candy Cane Bows
To make the candy cane bows you’ll need candy canes in mini or maxi versions.
Combine two of the candy canes together in a heart form and place them on a parchment covered baking sheet.
Heat the oven to 200 degrees and place the candy cane sheet in the oven for 8-10 minutes.
Pull out and quickly work to press them in together to form a bow shape.
The candy canes will bend nicely when they are warm.
Using gentle pressure you’ll bend the ends up and out to form a bow shape.
Make the Bow-Tie
To make the bow tie, crack off a couple of the curved part of a few candy canes and place them on top of the bows.
Put the bows back in the oven for another 7 minutes to allow them to meld together.
Candy Cane Bow Cake For Christmas
Once the candy canes are set and cooled you can add them to cakes, brownies, cookies etc for a fun way to make any treat holiday ready.
To make this candy cane bow cake, I lined the sides of the cake with the bows by gently pressing the big sized candy canes into the edges of the cake.
Sprinkling crushed up peppermint around the top of the cake brought our simply frosted cake up a level & I topped it off with the mini bows on top.
This is a fun and simple way to create a custom Christmas cake look for your holiday parties.
Let me know if you try it.
